The David Oistrakh Quartet is considered my many as one of the most vibrant and fresh sounding ensemble in the world of chamber music of today. Acclaimed for their virtuosity and passionate sound they left their mark on the international music scene during the last years.
A regular guest at the Biennale in the Cité de la Musique of the Philharmonie de Paris, they celebrated critically acclaimed concerts at the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Wigmore hall, the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin, the “Stars on Baikal” Festival, the Prague Spring Festival, the Auditorio de Barcelona, the Liszt Academy in Budapest, the Konzerthaus in Dortmund, the Quartet Festival at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, the Bratislava Festival, the Palau de la Musica and all major halls throughout Russia including the prestigious St. Petersburg and Moscow Philharmonic halls. They took part at the extraordinary event "Ivry Gitlis and friends" alongside Martha Argerich and Renaud Capucon in the Philharmonie de Paris in 2019.
Alongside it’s members Andrey Baranov, laureate of more than 20 competitions and first prize winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition, Marteau and Britten Competition, Rodin Petrov, prize-winner of the Paganini Competition, Fedor Belugin, laureate of several competitions and former member of the Shostakovich Quartet and Alexey Zhilin, first Russian laureate of the International Competition Dr. Luis Sigall (Chile) and winner of the International Brahms Competition in Austria the David Oistrakh Quartet was founded in 2011 and honoured by the family of the legendary 20th century violinist with his name. 75 years after the triumph of the Russian legend David Oistrakh at the Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition, the first violinist of the quartet Andrey Baranov symbolically won the first prize in 2012.
After their first recording 2016 with works by Tchaikovsky & Shostakovich they released their second CD featuring works by Grieg, Mendelssohn & Paganini only one year later.
