Biography

 

One of the leading Ukrainian artists of today, Kiev born pianist Antonii Baryshevsky was awarded with the first prize at the prestigious Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in 2014. A laureate and first prize winner of many competitions Antonii also won the first Prize at the “Premio Jaen” Competition and 2nd prize at the F. Busoni International Piano Competition.

 

Antonii Baryshevskyi performed at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Berliner Philharmonie (Big and Chamber halls), Wigmore Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin, National Philharmonic in Warsaw, Kölner Philharmonie, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Arnold Schönberg Center in Vienna, the Filharmonia Lodz and collaborated with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, The Israel Philharmonic, Munich Radio Orchestra, Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, The Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine, Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic, Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada under the baton of maestros such as Andrey Boreyko, Kirill Karabits, Asher Fisch, Valentin Uryupin, Oksana Lyniv, Frederic Chaslin, Howard Griffiths, Douglas Bostock, George Albrecht, Roman Kofman, Marcus Bosch and many others.

 

He participated at the MDR Musiksommer, Progetto Martha Argerich, Klavier Festival Ruhr, Busoni Festival, Copenhagen Summer Festival, Peace and Piano Festival and Chautauqua Festival among many others.

 

He started playing piano at the age of seven and had Alina Sorkina and Ryta Donskaya as teachers during his studies at music school. After finishing the course at Lysenko Special Secondary Music School in Kyiv, he entered the National Music Academy of Ukraine, where he earned a Master degree with Prof. Valerii Kozlov. Also, he has graduated from École Normale de musique de Paris, where he studied with Prof. Marian Rybicki.

 

Mr. Baryshevskyi was a laureate of the Ukrainian program “A Man of the Year 2005′′ at the age of 16. A year later he participated in the 2006 Euro Radio Youth Concert in Munich.

 

Antonii recorded for numerous CD labels, as well as radio and TV productions of the Italian, Danish, Spanish, German, Slovakian, Serbian Radio-Television broadcasting companies. Among the CD’s recorded is his debut release “Antonii Baryshevskyi” (Naxos), a recording of music by Moussorgskyi & Scriabin (CAvi-music), all piano sonatas by G. Ustvolskaya in 2017 and a CD with the choral music of Lili Boulanger “Hymne au Soleil”. An album with the orchestral music by Shostakovich was released in 2018 while “O Schone Nacht” with the music of Brahms, Rheinberger, and Herzogenberg was released in 2020.

 

Antonii Baryshevskyi gives master classes in Ukraine and abroad, is a guest professor in the Davidsbündler Music Academy in Den Haag (Netherlands) and a regular member of the International Summer Academy of Music in Ochsenhausen (Germany).
