Josep Vicent has been leading some of the most prestigious symphonic ensembles in Spain and the world including the London Symphony Orchestra, Slovenian Philharmonic, Rotterdam Philharmonisch Orkest, Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, Royal Philharmonic, Residentie Orkest Den Haag, Radio Filharmonisch Orkest of Holland, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Orchestra of Kyiv, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater, Orchestra of the Royal Theater, Orchestra du Teatre Royal de La Monnaie, New World Symphony Miami, Orchestras of Durban and Auvergne, National Symphonies of Belgium, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil .
Since 2015/16 he is artistic and musical director of the ADDA and chief conductor of the ADDA Symphony. He was Principal Conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica de las Islas Baleares (Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra) and Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra (The World Orchestra) from 2005 to 2015, with whom he toured fifteen times on four continents.
A pioneer in the exploration of new formats and audiences for classical music, he has directed operatic productions at the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Teatro del Liceu, the Leipzig Opera or the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, among others. He has been working as musical director with the acclaimed operatic/theatrical ensemble “La Fura del Baus” since 2014.
With an extensive career in contemporary music, he has premiered more than one hundred newly created works, having been artistic director of the Xenakis Festival, the Nits de la Mediterrània Festival and the internationally acclaimed Amsterdam Percussion Group. He was an assistant to maestro Alberto Zedda and awarded the International Musical Youth Performance Award, the 2013 "City of Valencia" Arts Award and the "Oscar Esplá" City of Alicante Award. He is an international ambassador designated by D. Federico Mayor Zaragoza for the Culture of Peace Foundation.
In the 2022/23 season he conducts ADDA Symphony and Spanish Brass at the Ensems Festivals of contemporary music. He will carry out two projects with the Belgian National Orchestra, being present at the Flamenco Festival in Sala Bozar in Brussels and touring Spain. He will make another tour in Germany and Switzerland with the Argovia Philharmonic. He will return to the Valencia Orchestra and the Krakow Sinfonietta. With ADDA Sinfónica he will conduct La Boheme in a production by Emilio Sagi. Together with the Philharmonie Zuidnederland he will direct the opera Carmen with La Fura dels Baus. His other concerts with ADDA Sinfónica will feature soloists like Joaquiín Riquelme. Ellinor d'Melon, Josu de Solaun, Casals Quartet and Anna Fedorova.
In recent seasons he made his debut with the Filarmónica de Buenos Aires in the Teatro Colón and at the Rouen Opera while returning to the Orchester National de Lille and the OSPA at the Princess of Asturias Awards concert.
